Once Malwarebytes Support has determined the cause of your error message you can post back here if you'd like to create those mutual scan exclusions and require assistance.Ħ4-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Windows Defender. On some systems it might also be necessary to create mutual scans exclusions in Norton and Malwarebytes to reduce the possibility of conflicts between the two programs (see AxelYanes 2 Malwarebytes Compatibility with Norton Security in the Malwarebytes forum). When that setting is OFF Norton will have the primary responsibility for malware detection and remediation and Malwarebytes Premium will essentially work as a "backup" to look for any potential threats missed by Norton. If you have Malwarebytes Premium, also note that most Norton users have the setting at Settings | Security | Windows Security Center | Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center turned OFF to ensure that Norton is registered with Windows as the main real-time antivirus. From my Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1 (with the latest virus definition set v2 as of this morning): I'm not sure if version "420179101036" is the version number of the installer you used but if Settings | About shows you're using Malwarebytes v4.2.0.82 with component package (released 0 per the old release notes posted ) or some older version of Malwarebytes then your Malwarebytes isn't fully patched. What version of Malwarebytes do you see when you go to Settings | About? You should have the latest Malwarebytes v4.2.1.89 (the version number of the scan engine) with Component Package (the version number of the protection modules like Exploit Protection, Web Protection, etc.) as shown in the image below. Malwarebytes doesn't scan all file types during file scans (see Aramis' 0 thread Are All Files Scanned by Malwarebytes?) but Malwarebytes Premium's heuristic (bahaviour-based) detection does a good job of detecting any file type that exhibits malicious behaviour when it executes so you'll still have decent real-time protection if Norton is uninstalled and Malwarebytes Premium is your only real-time protection. If they have diagnostic logs they have a much better idea of the possible cause of your error message.Īre you using Malwarebytes Premium (the paid version with real-time protection features activated) or Malwarebytes Free? If you have Malwarebytes Premium it should be safe to temporarily uninstall Norton for troubleshooting.

When you say " I have a Win 7 Enterprise X64 computer with( Norton Life Lock 22.) from my old job" do you mean the computer was purchased by your previous employer, or do you mean that your employer owns the license to your Norton product? If you paid for your own subscription to Norton Security 360 (or whatever Norton product you own) and you are the registered owner there shouldn't be any issue uninstalling and re-installing Norton after you're finished troubleshooting with Malwarebytes Support.Ī few questions about your Malwarebytes product, but please don't make any changes to you system while you are receiving support from Malwarebytes unless they ask you to do so. The fact that you are running home consumer products like Norton and Malwarebytes on a Win 7 Enterprise OS might also be a factor. This assumes, of course, that the diagnostic logs you sent to Malwarebytes Support show that you don't have Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) or some other security programs installed by you or your previous employer that could be causing this error on your Win 7 machine.

It sounds Malwarebytes Support believes there is some conflict occurring at boot-up that is preventing either Norton or Malwarebytes from running a scan early in the boot-up process.
